Monday-Thursday 7:30-4:30 Opened throughout the day for Open Period students and during brunch and lunch. We might have classes scheduled using the space, and try to accommodate as many Open Period students as possible. If we are closed 6th or 7th period, we apologize, but have too many students to allow both a class AND open period at the same time. **Note that the library is usually closed the first two weeks and last two weeks of school for textbook distribution and/or collection.
1-hour late start Fridays: (generally) 9:10-3:40 --- First Fridays we close between 8:30-9:30 for staff meetings.
Minimum days: 7:30-2:00pm
Supervised, After-school Study Hall - While the library services close at 3:40, we have supervision in the library until 4:30, Monday thru Thursday.
How many items may I check out at once? Students can have a total of five items checked out at one time.
Can I print? Black and White printing is $0.15; Color printing ranges from $0.25-$1 depending on the amount of color you print. Check with a library staff to set the correct printer to color. You can pick up and pay for printing at the front counter.
How much money will I owe if I return my books late?
We do not charge late fines for our library or textbooks. Please just return them!
What happens if I lose or significantly damage a book?
You will be responsible for paying the price to replace the book. We do have an online payment option set up thru ASB AND we do help you find cheaper options. See a library staff for more info.
Do I need to have my ID with me if I want to check out books?
We prefer you have your ID; however we don't EVER want to create an obstacle between you and reading, so give us your ID # if your ID card has been accidentally left elsewhere.
Can I renew a book?
Yes, you may renew a book once for another three weeks only if no one else has placed a hold on that item.
What should I do with my library pass when I come to the library?
When you enter the library, leave the library pass at the circulation desk. At the end of the period, you may pick up the pass and return to class.
Do I need my ID to return books?
No, you do not need your ID to return books or to pay fines.
Can we check out the Chromebooks?
No, the Chromebooks are not checked out like a library book; however, you usually use them when you visit with a class or before school/brunch/lunch. If you need a Chromebook at home for schoolwork, please talk with your counselor or teacher.
Do I need my ID to visit the library?
If you are coming in during a free period, brunch, or lunch, yes, you need to scan in with your ID card. This helps us a) learn your name and get to know you and b)know who is in here during an emergency or if we need to find anyone. If you are visiting with a class, then no ID required.
Can I use the library databases from my home computer or my mobile device?
The library databases can be accessed via the library website and most log in with the school Google account. Click on the "library databases password" document to view the other databases that do not use Google (note: must be logged in with school Google account to view the password page)
May I use the library computers to check my e-mail and grades?
Yes, you can check email and grades; however, keep in mind many students need the computers to complete schoolwork or print. If it is a high volume time, your computer time may be limited. We also have Chromebooks for in-library use; go to the front counter.
Do the library computers have any word processing programs?
All students have a Hart district Google account, which serves most word processing and presentation needs.
Does the library have a "lost and found"?
We will hold anything left in the library for one day; then items are taken to the official School Lost and Found in the 200 core.
Can I stay in the library for Study Hall?
Absolutely! Sign in, and get your work done! As long as you are doing school-related work, you are welcome to stay to work, read, or study!
Can I eat and drink in the library?
Please enjoy your food and drink outside before coming in. Water only if you need a quick drink. For anyone bringing Starbucks in, or a drink that will easily spill (eg a fast food drink w/ straw), we have a "coffee cart" to set your drink on when you walk on.
My book or textbook is falling apart. Can I just repair it with duct tape or my own glue?
Please bring it back to us --- we'll repair any books with special book tape. If you notice something ripping, bring it in!
I damaged a book. Can I pay online with a credit card?
Yes. Go to the ASB webstore, search "library" and you'll see a spot to put in a donation. Put in the amount of your book, and add your name and ID number when asked to fill out the remaining info. Take a screen shot and send to the library staff for their (and your) records. Call us if you need assistance!
